Make a large scan easier to send

ABOUT COMPRESSION

A few things to know.

Will every PDF get smaller?

No. Text-only documents, efficiently encoded scans and PDFs with unsupported picture formats may not shrink. If the result would grow, you get your unchanged original.

Can I still select and search the text?

Existing text and vector drawings are kept. This tool does not turn entire pages into pictures or add searchable text to scans.

Does compression reduce quality?

Supported pictures are resized and encoded as JPEG. Small text inside a scan may lose detail. Standard keeps more detail; check the downloaded file before replacing any original.

Which PDFs and pictures are supported?

Up to 20 MB, 50 pages and 100 embedded images. Supported pictures are opaque 8-bit RGB or grayscale JPEG and raw Flate images, up to 16 megapixels and 12,000 px per side. Transparent pictures, colour profiles, predictors and other image formats stay unchanged. Forms, signatures and password-protected documents are rejected.
